The Museum of the City of Antequera has its origin in the ‘Municipal Archaeological Museum’ devised by the archaeologist D. Rodrigo Amador de los Ríos in 1908. In 1966 by ministerial order the Municipal Museum was moved to its current location, a building of the eighteenth century: the Palace of Nájera, which was subject to a remarkable reform and expansion in 2010. The resulting set adds a total of about five thousand square meters built, of which half are dedicated to exhibition halls, becoming one of the most outstanding museums of the Andalusian community at the municipal level.
