Discover the Plaza de Toros de Antequera.
The Plaza de Toros de Antequera was inaugurated on August 20, 1848. Given the precipitation of its execution, the high lines were made of wood, arriving in this state until 1980, when the City Council acquires the bullring. In 1983 it was decided to proceed with a total transformation, both internal and external.
The works of the façade began in 1984, beginning with the construction of a new main shadow door, following the style model of the Antequera builders of the last third of the eighteenth century. The rest of the façade was subordinated to this monumental door, combining the modulation of brick and white cloths.
In successive years it continued with the total rehabilitation of the interior of the arena, with the reconstruction of the lines, reducing the diameter of the arena, as well as the total replacement of the roofs, through the provision of a logiada arcade, of Tuscan columns of white limestone and semicircular arches. On this arcade and the wall of the façade, a gabled roof of old Arab tile was arranged. Once all these works have been completed, the current appearance of the Plaza de Toros de Antequera is radically different from the one it presented in 1848, becoming one of the most beautiful cosos that have been built throughout the national territory.
