Description of Antequera Golf course

Antequera Golf, a dream place, where nature and golf merge to make this sport one of its masterpieces. With views of the incredible figure of the Peña de los Enamorados, the Torcal de Antequera, the city itself and its Vega, Antequera Golf not only offers 18 impressive holes but one of the best images that can be seen today in Andalusia.

With a par 72 golf course of more than 6,000 meters in maximum length, each and every one of its fairways has been carefully designed by the double Ryder Cup player, José María Cañizares; co-designed and built by Rodrigo Villegas, our current director of the course

Care and respect for nature are the fundamental bases of this golf course located in the centre of Andalusia, currently being the only one in the interior of the province of Malaga. Its good communications and access make it a golf course that is already beginning to host major tournaments such as the Andalusian professional circuit, the final of the British Olympics televised on sky sports, the Spanish University Championship or the World University Championship in 2010.

The unevenness of the surface where the terrain has been designed has been taken advantage of to achieve a very technical golf course, where golfers will enjoy each of their shots.

Most emblematic holes

The design of the Antequera Golf course presents an element for its decoration and the structuring of the fairways: the lakes. These also allow the care of the environment, since the water they collect from the rains is used to irrigate the field throughout the year. It currently has 18 interconnected artificial lakes. Every fairway on the course has been designed for the enjoyment and delight of golfers. Thus we have hole 3, a short par four of 295 meters but with a lake in front of it, thus creating an easy but very technical fairway at the time of playing it. The 6th hole, a par three with a tee at the top from which you can see three different regions and the entire Vega de Antequera. The green of this hole is about 140 meters away with a free fall of about 40 meters, it is a spectacular par three.

The 13th hole is totally unique in golf course design. It has two lakes right in front of the pros’ tee, a lake and a half in front of the amateur tee and a lake to the right for the amateur and junior women’s tee. Then there is a drop area for the ball and the second shot to the green is about 120 meters away but in front of the green there is another lake. The green is perfectly designed with slopes, drops and sand traps all around to give it a unique touch. The player will appreciate the beauty achieved in this fairway which will surely be on the lips of Andalusian golfers very soon. Some for its beauty, others for its authenticity, others for its difficulty and others for its technicality, achieving this type of comments from the players of the 13th hole of Antequera Golf mean that it is unique. Equally noteworthy is the 15th hole at the foot of the Sierra de la Magdalena.

In addition, the golf course has an illuminated driving range, clubhouse with restaurant and cafeteria, shop, changing rooms, and everything necessary for the delight of golfers at Antequera Golf.
