Created by the Community of Owners of the Antequera Industrial Estate in 1997, what began as a Painting Contest at the regional level has today become one of the most outstanding at the national level. It was a pioneering initiative by a group of businessmen who decided to collaborate with art, culture and tourism in the city of Antequera.
Over the years, already recognized artists such as Javier Calleja, Ana Barriga or Francisco Escalera have been winners of the First Prize, contributing with their magnificent works to make this Contest a place among the main Painting Competitions. From the 2017 edition, the Painting Contest decided to take a step forward by eliminating the previous mandatory theme and establishing that both technique and theme were totally free, making room for any artist.
